Proposito’s Michigan director gives a call to action to the Latino community, saying the effort to recall Lucy Ebel is an attempt by Democrats to silence the Latino voice.
Proposito Press Conference Statement: Cindy Amante, July 5, 2023
My name is Cindy Amante. I am the State Director for the Hispanic outreach organization Propósito. We are here tonight because I am absolutely disappointed with the Democratic Party here in Ottawa County. They have made an attack on the Latino community and we will not stand for it.
Out of all of the Ottawa County commissioners, they decided to recall the first Hispanic woman to be voted onto the Board, and daughter of a pastor, Lucy Ebel. Lucy is the only minority currently on the Board. The Democrats are single handedly working to take away the Latino voice. We stand for faith, family, finances, and freedom and Lucy has voted keeping our ideals and culture in mind.
How dare the Democrats attack our beliefs and do this to our community?
I will be sure to remind the Latino community about this moment, the moment the Democrats showed their true colors, in 2024. They only pretend to appreciate what we stand for in order to get votes. Once we start speaking out, they will do all they can to silence us. We cannot let them silence us.
I call on all Hispanics to take a stand and do not sign the petition to silence Lucy Ebel and the Latino Community.
