“There is so much noise and confusion from the media and partisan organizations. What is Truth?” —When Truth Votes, Facebook post, June 12, 2024
ABOUT
When Truth Votes is a new, year-round, non-partisan initiative of Michigan Impact that was formed to help voters “get the info they need for all elections—local, state, or federal—so they never miss a vote, and our laws match our community values.”
Questions
The 2024 election cycle is the first for When Truth Votes. And they jumped right in—asking five simple questions to over 200 candidates from West Michigan.
The five questions:
1. Do morals come from God or the majority?
2. Are there only 2 genders, male and female?
3. Do parents or the government know what is best to teach a child?
4. Should biological boys be allowed in girls’ bathrooms?
5. Which media organizations do you get your news from?
In a Facebook post on June 25, 2024, When Truth Votes called these five questions “foundational.”
“WE BELIEVE THESE QUESTIONS FORM AN UNWAVERING FOUNDATION UPON WHICH THE BEST GOVERNING DECISIONS CAN BE MADE.”
As of this writing, survey responses of 15 candidates have been posted and can be found here. When Truth Votes also provides a form for site visitors to submit names of candidates they would like surveyed.
Truth
When Truth Votes envisions a people “who are grounded in truth and actively fulfilling their civic duty, and through this, a society flourishing with liberty and peace.”
